India is considers to be a developing country, in that; industries plays a major role in development. Industrial workers and public are always prone to risk arising out of any industry accident. The cost of accidents can be in the form of loss of life, economic loss, loss of reputation, loss of time. Industrial safety management has now become an important and inevitable issue for an organization to prevent accidents and near miss. In 1948, factories act and rule was started in India for the sake of employees’ protection at the workplace. They made a rule to appoint qualified safety professionals for industries to prevent accident.
As per the Indian factories rules to become a qualified safety engineer, A person shall not be eligible for appoint as a safety officer unless he or she possess a degree in industrial safety from the recognised institute by the state government. Hence IIISM came into existence to provide a legitimate degree in industrial safety
The aim of Post Graduate In Industrial Safety Management-PGISM is to provide qualified safety engineers to the society. and also the needs of the industries with all the recognition as under the factories act and rule.
With a minimum of 50% (45% in case of SC/ST) marks in aggregate of any recognized University/institution
The semester end exams are conducted by VTU and the exam Center is Visvesvaraya Institute of Advanced Technology, also known as VIAT, is a research institute being constructed near Muddenahalli, Karnataka, India. the birthplace of legendary engineer, Sir Moksha Gundam Visvesvaraya.
The Post graduate in industrial safety management PGISM - semester marks cards and the Degree certificate is honored by Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) which is one of the largest and premier technological university in the country
After the successful completion of Post graduate in industrial Safety management PGISM, The graduates are appointed as safety engineers /safety officers and their work duties are to monitor safety regulations and implementations, doing maintenance checks, assess risks, perform quality checks, Their overall responsibility is to make sure that the working conditions, machinery, and environment is safe for employees and reviewing employee safety programs and recommending the improvements.
The students completing Post graduate in industrial Safety management PGISM will have a plenty of carrier opportunities in several multinational companies like Petro chemical and refineries, food industries, Steel plants, Pharmaceutical industries, Aerospace/Aeronautical industries, Port and Harbor, Metro railway projects, Hospitals, IT Industries, Automobile industries, High raising building.
